Having launched to much fanfare just over two months ago, The Sally Rides will take flight again on Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a performance at The Peddler, 149 W. Main St., Spartanburg. Composed of five women with decades of experience on the Upstate music circuit, the group has already amassed a sizable fan base for its infectious brand of roots-tinged power pop. In memory of Doug Hasman, an avid supporter of the Upstate music scene who died in 2018, Quest Brewing Company, 55 Airview Drive, Greenville, will host a special concert on Saturday, Jan. 18 that will celebrate music from the heyday of the famous Fillmore West venue in San Francisco. The event, which runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., kicks off with Jerry’s Nub paying tribute to the Grateful Dead followed by The Bad Popes playing the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Van Morrison, the Marvin King Revue as the Allman Brothers Band and, for the grand finale, The Greenville Funky Family Band cranking out the music of Miles Davis and Sly & the Family Stone. Hailing from Brooklyn, N.Y., Beach Fossils will bring its national tour to The Radio Room, 110 Poinsett Highway, Greenville, on Sunday, Jan. 19. Throughout the past decade, the band built a solid following in indie rock circles by consistently delivering a dreamy lo-fi sound that draws from a variety of classic post-punk and shoegaze influences.
